Indian electronics companies have benefited from the liberalization of the Indian economy that began in 1991. It has changed the regulatory, financial, and monetary policies leading to a higher pace of growth, including the loosening of restrictions on technology and component imports, delicensing, foreign investment, and reduction of excise duties. This has attracted a remarkable amount of foreign collaboration and investment into the country. The domestic industry has also responded favorably to the politic policies of the government. Improvements in the electronics industry have not been limited to a particular segment, but encompass all sectors - commercial electronics, software, telecommunications, instrumentation, positioning and networking systems, and defence. The software industry in India is already a world leader. The electronics industry is the next in line to follow.

The ELCOMP India 2005 exhibition shall be a custom-made platform for individual exhibitors, in which they can display all electronic hardware products & services, including complete electronic equipment, subsystems/assemblies and components. The two-day concurrent conference will be a focus on the huge opportunity provided by the growing Indian market for Electronic Hardware products and would deliberate on the demand being generated for electronic products and components by different segment of Electronics Hardware.
